I’m a software engineer with over 20 years of experience building everything from low-level firmware and embedded systems to cloud platforms and data processing pipelines. Most recently, I was Principal Software Engineer at CytoTronics, where I led the architecture of their first- and second-generation products, spanning embedded Linux on custom hardware through cloud infrastructure on AWS. Before that, I spent several years at Bloomberg, working on real-time messaging systems, streaming platforms, and Jupyter-based tools for quantitative finance.

Earlier in my career, I co-founded and ran a software company for eight years, designing Linux-based infrastructure products, and I’ve also worked on handheld scientific instruments, touch-screen UIs, RPC frameworks, and distributed applications.

I consider myself a generalist: I enjoy moving between domains, learning new technologies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Whether it’s embedded firmware, web applications, or large-scale distributed systems, I’m motivated by building software that is maintainable, understandable, and useful.

I currently work as a software contractor. If you’re interested in working with me, please feel free to reach out via LinkedIn or by email at emma@emmaponders.com.
